Psychotherapy is a supportive, collaborative process that helps people explore their emotions, thoughts, behaviours, relationships, and life experiences in a safe and non-judgmental space. It can help identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, build healthier coping strategies, strengthen self-awareness, and support meaningful change over time. Psychotherapy may be helpful for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, life transitions, and feeling stuck or disconnected. The process is guided by each person’s needs, goals, comfort level, and pace, with a focus on healing, growth, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Psychotherapy is deeper clinical work that involves assessing and treating emotional, cognitive, behavioural, mood, or mental health difficulties through a therapeutic relationship. In Ontario, psychotherapy is a regulated/controlled act when it meets certain criteria, and Registered Social Workers may perform it and use the title “psychotherapist” when practising within their competence and in compliance with OCSWSSW requirements. My approach is warm, compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centred, meeting you where you are and tailoring each session to your unique needs, goals, and pace.
